The Laurels are very proud to announce that we have had zero covid cases in the home since the outbreak of the pandemic last year. All staff and residents have remained safe and covid free. We have achieved this through strict infection control measures and careful planning of visitation. We do allow visitors to visit their loved ones through the window or outside at 2 meters when dry and warm – we are in the process of building a visiting pod outside.
We are open now to admissions and have 2 available en-suite bedrooms.
We have all been vaccinated and all new admissions would need to be vaccinated and covid tested – staff test 3 times a week – residents every 28 days. You can view the property through windows, facetime or photos.

During lockdown, we celebrated the 75th anniversary of VE Day. We all dressed in red and white and had bunting and cakes made. We celebrated with traditional fish and chips and a jolly good sing-song. All residents had the chance to share their memories of where they were on this day. Some residents got their old photos out and one lady wore her late husband’s war medals proudly on her chest.
Surrounded by beautiful countryside and overlooking an old golf course The Laurels offers high quality, person centred care in a homely, caring environment.
The Laurels is a small residential home with 10 bedrooms, one being a double room that can support a married couple. The Laurels is a family environment where every individual need can be met by a familiar, consistent staff team.
We also offer a Day Care Service where family members can be dropped off for the day, treated to a pampering session or a game of bingo and then enjoy a good home cooked lunch. It is a service which provides companionship and occupation to people who may otherwise be alone at home all day, isolated and bored and at risk.
Our primary aim is to ensure that each resident is treated as an individual and encouraged to be in control of all aspects of their care and daily lives. Care plans are developed with each individual and their families to ensure that all needs and desires are identified and met and actioned.
Our primary concern is for the happiness, well being and security of our residents and to ensure that they feel safe, listened to and respected at all times. Our highly qualified, consistent and caring staff team strive to create a warm, homely and caring atmosphere where the residents do truly feel ‘at home.’
We specialise in Dementia Care and the registered manager of the home is a Dementia Lead in the county and a trainer in Dementia Care.
The Laurels care service are proud winners of two Gloucestershire Care Providers Association Awards– Inspirational New Comers and Team of the year…

Very welcoming and friendly staff. Always willing to answer any questions and help you in any way they can. They take the time to get to know the person they are caring for and the family as well etc. Encourages independence for every resident. A home from home. Happy, helpful and friendly staff. Clean, warm and very welcoming. Staff are always on hand to answer questions and help residents when called for. Meals cooked on-site are healthy and nutritious and my father is allowed to eat whatever he likes. Would recommend it to anyone.

Mum and dad had lived with me for six years and I was finding it increasingly difficult to cope with dads dementia and mums increasing frailty. They are both 95 years old. When the double room became available it was felt as if it was meant to be. Mum and dad stayed for two weeks respite at first to see if they liked it. The staff are lovely, very welcoming and always cheerful. Mum and dad are made to feel valued, and comfortable and that nothing is too much trouble. It is home from home with home-cooked meals, their own things around them, company if they want it or quiet time in their room. Mum and dad are happy which is all I could want.

‘From the first contact with The Laurels, when I knew it was a lovely place, to our first visit with my father, it was obviously a great choice. The care, consideration and organisation of his move, were exemplary. The ongoing care has been great - and I'm completely happy with everything. I no longer have to worry about him, and he is so much happier and contented’.

‘When my friend needed a care home locally, I had heard The Laurels had a good reputation, and a neighbour of mine was having her aunt looked after there and highly recommended it. So when my friend went there, it was everything and more that was expected from a care home. It is a lovely home, and my friend is very happy there. The staff and management are really helpful and treat everyone with the same hospitality. Highly recommended.’

‘From the first look at the website, it seemed clear to me that this was a caring and friendly place for my mother to go to. My first chat with the management was very reassuring, and the fact that there are only a small number of clients also meant that the staff/client ratio is always good. My mother has improved her quality of life and her underlying mood is so much better. Thanks.’

‘The Laurels in Huntley offers a homely environment with just a few residents. As soon as you walk in, you receive a friendly, warm welcome from all of the staff. The home is always clean and tidy and if you speak to the residents, they all love it there. Most residents have been there some time and will all tell you how lovely all of the staff are. Meals are all home cooked with fresh ingredients and residents are pampered with tea, cake and snacks throughout the day. Residents can go for a daily walk and are given autonomy over their own spending choices at the local shop. A care home choice is never easy, but The Laurels are brilliant at supporting the transition. They take over all medication and are always available to talk; especially when you just need that bit of reassurance. Thank you Team Laurels, from the bottom of my heart!’

We have a small friendly staff team who have been at The Laurels for many years and they include 4 care staff, an activity co ordinator, a qualified nurse, 2 cooks who always use fresh, local produce cooked on a daily basis and a cleaner. Families and friends are encouraged to visit as often as they like and the resident can access the community as and when they desire. There is a local garage / shop a minutes walk away where residents can buy their daily newspapers or individual produce.
There are several pubs and restaurants and garden centres close by to visit and Gloucester City is only a 10 minute drive away with all its facilities and historic Cathedral and Docks. The Forest of Dean offers many tourist attractions including nature trails, museums, golf, fishing, steam trains and caves and is perfect for a drive out or a visit to local coffee shops.
